Additionally, I asked for the stylist to take very little off the front and to leave it longer in the front than in the back. She took almost 2 inches off the front and when I mentioned that it was considerably shorter than I asked for, she said she barely touched it! When you have short hair, 2 inches is a lot!
BEWARE!!! THIS SALON IS AWFUL. THEY UPCHARGE EVERYTHING AND USE MORE PRODUCTS THAN NEEDED SO THAT CAN CHARGE MORE. MY CLOTHES HAVE BEEN RUINED TWICE BY BLEACH, THE MANGERS ARE BEYOND RUDE AND DONT STAND BY THERE WORD. THEY HAVE ZERO REGARDS FOR THE CUSTOMERS. YOU CANT TRUST THE PRICES ON THIER WEBSITE BECAUSE THEY WILL CHARGE WHATEVER THEY WANT AFTER THE SERVICE HAS BEEN PROVIDED NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU BEFORE THE SERVICE HAS BEEN STARTED. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO SUCH AN UNPROFESSIONAL SALON IN MY LIFE!!!
I have found my local hair stylist! After moving from the West end of Richmond a couple years ago I eventually had to stop my forever long commute to my Richmond stylist (Salon Van De -->has some super talented hair stylists! ). Last year I began my search for a local stylist and have been to a few places that just didn't have "it" (Bubbles salon being one of them). Id have to stay hours longer for them to tone and correct my hair each time I went in (4xs!) I know stupid me for going back that many times but I kept thinking "they'll get it right THIS time for sure" -FAIL. So I waited quite a while before I was brave enough to meet a new stylist. I set up a consultation with Style By Design and the stylist (Sabrina) was knowledgeable, experienced, and easy to talk to. I just had my hair highlighted and cut today by Sabrina and OHHH MY GOSH I LOVE IT! She got it right the first go around like my fav Richmond stylist did! I am sooo glad I gave her a chance. She will be my hair stylist for as long as I live in the Williamsburg area!!!
I went in for a cut and color. I gave her the formula for my hair color and she still couldn't come close to matching it. When I said that it was much darker than my original color, she said, "oh, that's just the way it looks now, it will be fine"
Horrible experience. I went to Style by Design right after I moved to Williamsburg and a week before my son's graduation. What a mistake!
Lisa was perfect! I just went out on a limb trying to find a hair stylist because people I've gone to in the past either don't listen or they think their suggestions are better. I am so lucky she had an opening today I am so in love with how my hair turned out, and she was very personable, thank you!
Needless to say, I will never go back!
I have been using this salon and have had a stylist that I have loved for over a year. My regular stylist moved away and I had to see someone else today. I wasn't impressed. I won't be going back. My old stylist who I will forever miss gave me a head massage while washing and drying my hair, charged me the amount listed on the web site (imagine that!) and always listened to me and did what I wanted. Today I got a quick wash, and my hair was barely dried to the point where water was running down my face and neck during my cut. I asked for an A line bob, longer in the front. This shouldn't be a particularly hard cut to do. It's really common. I got a bob that isn't longer in the front that makes my face look rounder. I am getting married in 6 weeks. This is not ok. Also, it came out way longer on one side and when I pointed that out the stylist disagreed with me, then looked and decided I was right and fixed it. I asked her how much my normal highlights would cost with a cut and she quoted me 50% more than my regular stylist charged. The service I got today is equivalent to going to Walmart or Supercuts. Not ok for a more upscale salon that charged me $5 more than the website lists and what I have been getting charged for over a year. I am beyond upset. Let's also not forget that she burned my neck, and wasn't particularly friendly. Folks, if you are going to spend $40 or more to get your hair cut, go somewhere that is worth it. There may be other people there that I would love, and I considered calling them, but I have decided it isn't worth the hassle. You should not have to fight to be treated fairly and get what you paid for.
