Family of Adren Garnett (age 20) who was shot and killed on Monday October 23 in Toano, VA was denied access to the viewing this evening conducted at Whiting funeral home located on Pocahontas Trail in Williamsburg VA causing outrage from dozens of immediate family members of the deceased who came from as far as Florida, Maryland and other parts of the East. James City County Police were called in to help keep calm as members of the Garnett and Jones family would denied access to the viewing from the other maternal mother and grandmother. The Garnett and Jones Families were also told by Whiting FH that they would not be allowed access to the funeral which takes place tomorrow morning (Tuesday) which caused further outrage on part of the Garnett - Jones Family. Police are expected to be in strong attendance at both events, much to the dismay of the Jones family who are parents, grandparents, Great Grandparents, aunts and uncles of the deceased Adren Garnett. Whiting Funeral Home could not seem to give a reasonable or acceptable explanation for denying the family access and dozens of family members stood outside of the funeral home with James City County Police watching. Tomorrow's funeral will likely cause similar confusion and outrage amongst denied family members. Whiting should be absolutely ASHAMED for their POOR handling of this situation given the MANY YEARS OF PATRONAGE given by the Jones family and a decision that will impact future testimonies and business from this outraged family!

So far, they have made this experience less stressful during our time of need so I can focus on comforting my family, as well as other important matters. I can say I've received top notch service, and now I see why my family continues to entrust Whiting Funeral Home for there burial needs.

Lovely people, very kind .

Very concerned

My father passed away, and was found in his home this week. I personally chose this funeral home simply because they have been handling my family's funeral needs for years.

I'm very observant when it comes to business practices, and I pay close attention to details. After careful evaluation, I can now say that my points of contact all had excellent communication skills, from the time his body was retrieved from a very difficult staircase, not to mention the awkward home layout, to the final draft and posting of the obituary. Mrs. Wright was patient as I described the services I wanted, and very prompt about returning calls. The facility was immaculate, inviting, and well organized. Ms. Shirley was very knowledgable, and customer-service oriented at the paperwork signing, and Mr. Christopher did his best with my dad's photo while proofing the obituary I sent in.
