This state park is fantastic! Great place to take the dogs for a quiet walk. Wonderful views of the river. The paths were well-kept and clearly marked. Just a short hike takes you to a small, but beautiful beach, covered with driftwood and shells, which great for taking pictures. This place was truly a hidden gem! We will definitely be back!
Shell beach at York river is the place to go. Took the family, hiked and had a picnic. Absolutely beautiful! Found plenty of Fossil Shells at low tide to bring home. The museum at the Welcome center was very interesting with all the historic artifacts on display. Very friendly and informative staff.
Was not impressed with their boat facilities. You have to walk quite a distance to put your kayak in -- not handicap friendly. There is no boat launch, but there is a small wooden walkway to put in your kayak. Without a launch, getting in your kayak/canoe is quite difficult (not to mention dangerous).
One of the best state parks in eastern Virginia. Good hiking mountain biking and walking along the York river shore. Beautiful views.
Scenic place. Easy hikes. The fossils beach was breathtaking.
